This novel is about a teenage girl, named Sam, with OCD. It affects her life in quite a few ways, but she has hidden it from her friends and everyone at school. She is part of the group of popular girls at school nicknamed the "crazy eight." She does meet a new girl at school and becomes friends with her. Her new friend, Caroline, shows her a secret poetry club within the school. Sam makes new friends through being part of the poetry club, and she starts to become a better version of herself. There is even a little romance. Sam hides these friends from the rest of the crazy eight for most of the book as well. Through her poetry, Sam starts to deal with her OCD on a different level, until a major twist threatens her progress.
I gave this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. It is very well written and well researched. It is a great portrayal of someone with "Pure-O" OCD and a patient's important relationship with their therapist. This is a great book if you are trying to get into something new or different than your usual genre. I don't think it is specifically for teens even though it's from a teenagers' perspective. I read it in about 3 hours; its about 250 pages. I would recommend this to just about anyone.
