I was really excited to read this because I saw good reviews for it on BookTube. This is actually (I believe) a comic books series that has been rebound into graphic novels.
My first impression was that the artwork was stunning. I love the art throughout this entire book. It flows well with the story line and is very detailed. I was also immediately intrigued by the story. It is apocalypse meets violent wild west.
In Volume One we are introduced to the main characters, which are three of the four horsemen of the apocalypse, the human leaders of the apocalyptic world, and Death (the fourth horseman). The story revolves around these parties and a prophesy called "The Message" that fortells of an apocalyptic world. The human leaders and the three horsemen are trying to make sure the prophesy is fulfilled. Death has his own agenda as the reader quickly finds out.
I thought this graphic novel was fantastic. I loved the artwork and how it and the story line fit together so well. I can already tell the story is going to be very deep and complex. I gave this four out of five stars, I thought it was great and am looking forward to reading more. Just a word of caution, if you do not like somewhat gory artwork, this might not be something you would enjoy. I believe there are 21 total volumes in this series, and from what I can see you can find them on Amazon. Overall, East of West is definitely something I recommend!
